Today in class we continued to watch the film about North and South Korea. We learned about how the Americans donated cataract machines and a doctor would do procedures for hundreds of blind people a day. When the doctor would do these procedures, they could be able to see again. He saved a lot of lives.
We also learned about how North Korea is very isolated with other countries. They have no electricity and cell phones are banned from the country. North Korea ignores South and refused to attend meetings held in a room held in half of the South and half in the North. South Korea gets frustrated with this, and has to use a horn to yell the message over. The reason they do not attend is because Kim Jong-Ill did not tell them to, therefore they do not.
They interviewed a family in North Korea and asked if King Jong-Ill can do anything bad or if they can look at him bad. They said that Kim Jong-Ill is perfect and that if it wasn't for him, they would be dead. Another question was about North Korea compared to America and said they they are stronger than American and that they have the greatest leader and how America can do nothing. The film also mentioned a word, juche which means "self-reliance" and a form of religion in North Korea.
